Prior to Physical Therapy school he worked as an assistant strength coach in the varsity weight room at Washington State University with notable athletes including Klay Thompson and Aron Baynes. He has had advanced training in manual therapy techniques including joint manipulations. Treating the whole person by evaluating their current abilities contrasted to each patient’s goals has been a proven winning strategy. Working with athletes and weekend warriors is definitely his specialty, but Derek enjoys working with everyone regardless of their background. Derek has lived in the Portland metro area since late 2012 and is married with 4 wonderful children, 2 French bulldogs, and a cat. He also is passionate about personal fitness and gardening. Derek has 22 blueberry bushes, 20 fruit trees, and a seasonal raised garden bed selection at his house. Amanda is passionate about the patient care experience and joined Therapydia to help make a positive impact on the patients we care for.
