Rotator Cuff Repair + Physical Therapy

Recovery can be a long road after experiencing a rotator cuff injury or undergoing surgery. You will not be able to do some of your favorite actives until you are healed and will need to make various lifestyle changes, such as avoiding to lift heavy object, participate in sports or write with your dominate hand if it is the affected arm. By adding physical therapy to your rotator cuff recovery regime you can regain the motion and strength of your shoulder to get back to the activities you love.

Benefits of Physical Therapy After Surgery

Keep your gains. An expert physical therapist will help you maintain and build strength during your recovery so you aren’t starting from square one once you’re healed. Programs are designed to get you back to your peak faster.

No conventional program. Your injury and your recovery is unique. A physical therapist will put together the right program for your body and lifestyle to heal more effectively.

Find activities you’ll love. You may not be able to participate in all the activities you once enjoyed right after surgery. But a physical therapist can help find the right activities to keep you active and safe while you heal. With physical therapy, you’ll get back to the activities you once enjoyed, faster and without pain.

No Googling if something is OK. Instead of skipping something you’ll enjoy because you’re not sure if it will irritate your injury, you will have direct access to a physical therapist that can offer advice unique to you.

A Little Advice to Get You Started

Recovery at Home

  • Wear your sling at all times unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
  • Don’t lie flat while sleeping, keep your upper body propped using pillows or by sleeping in a reclining chair.
  • Keep items you need close by to avoid having to reach for them.

Protecting Your Shoulder

  • Don’t lean on or lift anything with your affected arm or hand.
  • Move your fingers, hands and wrists a few times a day while they are in the sling.
  • Don’t pull your arm away from your body or over your head.
  • Make sure to keep your arm bent at a 90 degree angle.

Why Therapydia for Physical Therapy?

Located all across the United States, our physical therapists offer one-on-one, hands-on treatment. You’ll spend your sessions with one of our expert therapists, not an aide or tech. We’ll help you understand what’s causing your pain, what you can do to relieve your pain and ways to prevent reoccurring injuries. Our physical therapists are chosen through a selection screening process to ensure you get the care you need.

Best of all, you’re covered. Therapydia works with and provides billing for more insurance groups. For clients with out-of-network benefits, most PPOs will pay a portion of treatment charges with a prescription from a physician.
