Emily graduated from University of New England (Portland, Maine), receiving her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014. She has been employed in an outpatient orthopedic setting since graduating. Throughout her career, Emily has treated many patients with a multitude of injuries and pathologies. She has developed a passion for rehabilitating ankle fractures, working with runners and in the past few years – postpartum recovery, specifically rehabilitating diastasis recti. Emily, herself, is expecting her first child in May 2020. Personable, humorous and compassionate, she enjoys connecting with her patients. She brings positive energy and encouragement in the journey to recovery. Emily is adamant that tailoring treatment and plan of care to each and every patient is the difference between standard care and outstanding care.
Emily has been working at Therapydia since 2015; transitioning from staff therapist to senior staff therapist at Therapydia Portland and was recently promoted to serve as Clinical Director of Therapydia Lake Oswego in March 2020. She enjoys supporting her team in the effort to provide the best PT experience there is to offer her community. She is passionate about her work and is thrilled to be able to treat patients within a company that supports a one-on-one patient care model.
In her time outside of work, you’ll find Emily wandering Portland with her husband looking for the best espresso, spending time with her family in North Central Oregon on her family’s farm or running a half marathon with her best friend.
Elaina Gayles, DPT
Elaina completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Pacific University Oregon. As a native Oregonian, she is excited to give back to her community and help people maximize their ability to get outside and stay active.
She enjoys working with a variety of conditions including general orthopedic conditions with a special interest in athletic injuries in youth, lower extremity injuries, and balance problems. She enjoys working with people of all ages from adolescents to older adults and believes that age should not dictate function.
Outside the clinic, Elaina likes to spend time in the beautiful nature that Oregon has to offer. She also enjoys cycling, drawing and painting, travel, and trying new restaurants or coffee shops around Portland.
Jordon Whitaker PT, DPT
Jordon completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon and earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at George Fox University. She continues to have connections with her professors and classmates at George Fox, for continued discussion and growth around research and innovative approaches to physical therapy practice. Her background in research at George Fox allows her to provide additional knowledge in pre season testing for college athletes. As a result of her group research work at George Fox, she was published in the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy (IJSPT) and the Athletic Training and Sports Health Care (ATHSC).
Jordon is comfortable working with patients of all ages and abilities as her background has been varied. She has worked in many clinical settings, hospitals and nursing facilities. She has had experience with pediatrics as well as geriatrics, but has a passion for outpatient orthopedics. She enjoys treating overuse injuries and tendinopathies. By using a combination of hands on approach and active exercise, she enjoys helping her clients achieve their fitness goals. She tends to focus on general health and wellness to ensure that clients feel well equipped to self manage any symptoms and feel confident in their abilities to participate in activities they enjoy. She also has an interest in chronic pain management and managing clients with back pain. Jordon’s continuing education post PT school has consisted of the orthopedic conference, hip and knee courses and participating in weekly online education seminars in order to stay up to date on research and clinical expertise.
When Jordon is not at Therapydia Lake Oswego, you would find her spending time with her family either travelling, hiking, working out or enjoying Portland food. She is usually planning her next travelling experience with her husband as they have driven halfway across the country multiple times and have been outside the country to Europe, Africa, Caribbean and Central America.
I’ve spent most of my life in Portland. I have an amazing 13 year old daughter. I am two classes away from graduating from PSU with a BS in social science with a minor in geography. I was formerly a nurse, then a patient care coordinator at The KOR PT, then a bookkeeper, and now I’m just considering what master’s degree I want to spend the next ten years working on. I like to play the piano, quilt, read, and binge Netflix in my free time. My interests include music, science, justice, animals, shapes, and feelings.
Elaina was very knowledgable and supportive. She made sure she understood my lifestyle and specific issues and guided my workouts at an appropriate level. I feel much more confident now in assessing my limits to avoid re-injury.
I am getting better results at Therapydia than I ever have in PT previously! The improvement in my ability to move is very noticeable at the end of my appointments.
Felt like I got a good combination of better range of motion and strengthening. Felt like I got good treatment and improved after each session.
